THE LEGEND OF CIVET/WEASEL COFFEE
Origin: Weasel coffee was first known in 1616 when Indonesia was still a colony of Holland. Farmers from coffee plantations in Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi islands accidentally found out coffee beans that have strange shapes during collecting coffee seeds. Therefore they brought them home then washed and roasted these coffee seeds. Weasel was found from there.
When the Europeans came to Indonesia, they enjoyed Weasel coffee a lot and considered Weasel a brand new and charming flavor. After that lots of people known about Weasel and were crazy about its taste. Therefore, Indonesia is also known as the first origin of the famous coffee all over the world.
In fact, Vietnam is one of four lucky countries to have a chance to produce Weasel coffee- a rare and most expensive coffee in the world. The decisive factor is still the coffee bean and the Asian palm civet . Asian palm civet- is a smaller species of civet found throughout the jungles of Asia, especially, love to eat ripe coffee seeds. They carefully choose the good fruit with no signs of disease, insect traces by their natural sense.
